    Many congratulations, sir. Hearty wishes for the new-born. As you go ahead and perform the various ceremonies, I would request you to explain the meaning of the ceremony as and when you mention it, it will be useful for others to know.

    Thanks Koushik for your comments. To answer your question about the significance of this ceremony, I would say in simple terms,these rituals are performed to protect the baby from bad omen or evil spirits. This ceremony has multifold reasons. First and foremost is to develop the hearing capacity of the baby. Second one would be to protect the baby like Rakshak in Hindi or Kanganam to give the baby a layer of protection from all kinds of evil forces. I hope this explanation helped.
